Freelance Tax Consultant (ZZP)
As a Tax Manager you will work for Booking.com in Amsterdam (Booking.com’s headquarters), where our entire tax department sits. The tax department currently consists of around 40 persons, which are working in either one of the two business focused verticals (Accommodations BU and Trips BU) or one of the tax horizontals (TP; VAT; Governance, Compliance & Controversy and Data Technology Strategy). The tax department is part of Booking.com’s international Finance team (approx. 1000 professionals, mostly based in Amsterdam).
The role involves close interaction with our entire tax team, our parent company (Booking Holdings Inc based in Norwalk, Connecticut), our international offices, business managers, functional teams and other finance colleagues. Therefore it is essential that you have excellent management and communication skills in English.
Due to the rapid changes in the organization, the tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.
Responsible for:
Manage and support system related (SAP but also other systems) Projects, ;
Keep up with global tax developments and ensure compliance with local tax rules and regulations;
Define tax requirements for system implementation relevant for VAT compliance and data reporting purposes;
Support with impact of system implementation on processes in particular in relation to tax accounting & reporting processes;
Support with Masterdata re-design for Tax purposes
Help with CESOP implementation (make sure that all tax requirements are translated and implemented correctly from systems, processes and technology point of view;
Contribute to tax awareness and appreciation within the group;
Work close with other Tax Managers of Data&Tech Strategy team
Coordinate the work of our tax advisors.
Requirements (must be clearly mentioned on CV or motivation letter):
University degree in Tax Economics/Law or similar degree;
Preferably 5+ years of working experience within a big 4 and/or international environment, with a focus on Indirect Tax;
Proven success of project and senior stakeholder management and implementing new processes;
Have an affinity for, and experience working with, systems & technology including experience in SAP S4/Hana implementation, VIM, Blackline, ConcurCombination of experience with tax accounting is much preferred;
Familiar with digital economy/e-commerce challenges and taxes;
Self-starter, flexible, energetic, passionate, self-motivated, and results-oriented professional;
Accurate, able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines, and comfortable working in a fast turnaround environment and managing multiple priorities simultaneously;
Ability to think strategically, multi-task, and work effectively and efficiently with minimum direction, taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities;
To be able to clearly express ideas and information to various stakeholders in the business and tailor your style according to the specific situation and audience;
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English.
