Software Test Engineer

Start Date:ASAP

Duration: 1 year

Location: Best, Eindhoven

Max travel distance from Best is 30min

As a Software Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of the Philips Interventional Hemodynamic System, a medical device designed to assess and analyze a patient’s hemodynamic condition during interventional cardiac procedures. You will design and execute both manual and automated tests, leveraging inputs from various disciplines including the software development team, systems architects, and fellow test engineers. Your role will extend beyond software testing, as you will also be responsible for testing interfaces with other medical devices and performing release tests on hardware components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test Design and Execution:

  • Develop and carry out software (interface) tests, both automated and manual, as part of the Agile/Scrum development team. These tests will cover functional, performance, load, and reliability aspects throughout the entire development cycle to ensure built-in quality.

  • Collaboration on Test Strategy:

  • Work closely with the lead test engineer and fellow software test engineers to define the most suitable test strategy for the product. You will also provide effort estimations to support comprehensive test planning.

  • Documentation:

  • Prepare and maintain the necessary documentation to facilitate the creation, execution, and release of tests for both software and hardware components.

  • Requirements Review:

  • Review functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and feature descriptions to ensure accuracy, clarity, and testability.

  • Agile Participation:

  • Actively engage with your fellow test engineers and the software development team in various Scrum activities, such as estimation sessions, daily stand-ups, and refinement sessions, contributing to the overall development process.

Your Team:

You will join the Interventional Hemodynamics business team based in Best, Netherlands. This small, multi-disciplinary team of 16 professionals manages the global Interventional Hemodynamic Business within Philips IGT Systems. You will work closely with a lead test engineer, fellow software test engineers, a systems architect, and a team of five highly skilled software engineers following Agile Scrum methodology. The team's open culture encourages every voice to be heard, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions and continuous improvement in products and processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.

  • ISEB/ISTQB Foundation level knowledge is required; ISTQB Advanced level certification is preferred.

  • Experience with software testing in regulated industries such as medical, aerospace, defense, or automotive. Experience in test automation is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with the extensive documentation requirements of regulated product releases.

  • Proven experience working in an Agile/SCRUM environment, with the ability to act as a tester within various Scrum processes.

  • Strong quality mindset and ownership, with the capability to work effectively in multi-cultural, multi-site development teams.

  • Excellent communication skills (English required, Dutch preferred), with the ability to influence others and drive quality without direct authority.

Additional Information:

This role requires a minimum of three days in the office, with flexibility for four to five days depending on project needs. Preference will be given to candidates available for five days per week.
