Freelance Senior Communications Director (ZZP)

Work Environment
You will work at Rabobank, Wholesale & Rural (the international, b2b business) located in Utrecht, working hybrid home/office, based on 36 hours per week. You will report directly to the Global Head of Marketing & Communications of W&R.
Role description (short)
The Senior Global Communications Director is accountable for developing one global communications governance structure with supportive policies, processes and measurement for the Wholesale & Rural business (global departments, and four regions). The success of this transformation in our way of communicating requires senior-level experience in corporate communications.
Goals of the assignment:
1. Develop and consolidate the W&R Communications framework
• Develop governance, guidelines, and policies for core internal communications channels: SharePoint (intranet), Microsoft Teams, VivaEngage, and narrowcasting. Start
with plan in Q2 and deliver in Q3/4 2025.
• Develop and implement a new process to measure the performance of our communications channels, proposal includes KPI-setting, operational in Q1, 2026.
• Develop a comprehensive internal communications plan for W&R by Q3, 2025.
• Create and manage a centralized Marketing & Communications calendar on SharePoint, with clear ownership, update processes, and progress reporting. Launch in
August 2025 as a pilot of one month, evaluate and based on learnings roll out across the departments in Q4 2025, Q1 2026.
2. Communicate the new brand construct and manage the global execution
• Develop and execute the internal launch plan of the global brand campaign in September 2025.
• Coordinate with the communications departments of W&R the execution and adoption of the new brand construct in all assets. Establish governance and structure for local use and contributions to the Brand Portal starting September 1, 2025.
Profile of the Ideal Candidate:
• Senior-level experience in integrated communications planning across channels and audiences within complex, international organizations (min. 10 years).
• Strong expertise in channel governance, internal platform optimization, and communications measurement.
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement, especially with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to structure, execute, and embed new ways of working.
• Experience in change communications, brand positioning, and building communications capability.
• Excellent editorial and project management skills.
• Fluent in Dutch (native) and English (near-native).
Must haves
• 10 years senior experience with integrated communications
