Freelance Senior Climate Analyst - Climate Targets (ASAP) (ZZP)

The Climate Plan is a strategic initiative by ABN AMRO focused on achieving our Net-Zero commitment. As a Senior Analyst in the Target Team, you will play a key role in realizing ABN AMRO's vision and driving sustainable change. You will expertly balance the organization’s strategic objectives with your own expertise, working across departments to facilitate meaningful transformations.

You will be responsible for the (re)development of targets and the prioritization/selection of new sectors/portfolios for Net-Zero target setting, following a framework that meets the minimum requirements set by the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA). This role requires strong analytical and consulting skills, a results-driven mindset, and excellent stakeholder management capabilities.

Within the Target Team, you will report to the Target Team Lead and have a functional reporting line to the SAGA Integrator assigned to the specific sector within the scope of change. You will be part of the Sustainability Center of Excellence, specifically within the Climate Plan team. Close collaboration with other workstreams will ensure comprehensive coverage of responsibilities, including Business Implementation, Transformation, and ESG Data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and refinement of climate targets.

• Take ownership of the selection process for new sectors/portfolios.

• Analyze data and provide actionable insights to support strategic decisions.

• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across various departments.

• Ensure processes are aligned with the bank’s climate goals and customer interests.

• Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance as needed.

Your business objectives are focused on achieving target setting for various sectors within the scope of the Climate Plan. Below is an overview of the ongoing objectives that need to be finalized by the end of 2024:

• Target setting for Passenger Cars

• Wave III annual statement and/or target setting

• CSRD Absolute value calculations

• BRAS 2025 limit and checkpoint statement

• RAS per sector review

• Deepsea Shipping – alignment with the IMO Revised Strategy

• Wealth Management – target review

• Oil & Gas Upstream & Midstream target setting

• Mortgages & Commercial Real Estate - updated CRREM2 alignment

Requirements:

• 4-7 years of work experience.

• Background in sustainability.

• Strong analytical and consultancy skills.

• Proven track record of results-oriented execution.

• Excellent organizational sensitivity and relationship-building abilities.

• Knowledge of corporate sustainability reporting regulations and frameworks (EU Taxonomy, CSRD) and familiarity with scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon accounting.
