Freelance Product Owner FEC (PowerBI & Synapse) (ZZP)

The Product Owner (PO) for the Business Intelligence (BI) team in Financial Economic Crime (FEC) is responsible for delivering BI-driven use cases to support FEC teams. You will define and prioritize the product backlog for BI solutions that align with the organization's needs, ensuring the successful operationalization of BI use cases. The team develops managed BI solutions, supports Self-service BI teams, and facilitates Data Analytics solutions (fabric warehousing), providing end users with the tools and data necessary for their own analyses. The PO works closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, data engineers, and BI developers to ensure that BI solutions are effective, efficient, and aligned with strategic FEC goals.

Backlog Management

• Prioritize and manage the product backlog, focusing on delivering maximum value to the organization

• Ensure that user stories and acceptance criteria are clear and detailed.

• Regularly align with stakeholders to ensure the backlog reflects business needs and strategic goals.

Stakeholder Management:

• Serve as the primary point of contact between the BI team and business stakeholders.

• Maintain clear communication regarding progress, priorities, and outcomes.

• Manage expectations and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.

Vision and Strategy:

• Help develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for BI solutions within the organization.

• Identify opportunities to expand and optimize self-service BI capabilities.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with BI developers, data analysts, and data engineers to ensure solutions meet technical requirements.

• Facilitate Scrum events such as sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

• Monitor team progress and performance.

Quality and Compliance:

• Ensure that BI solutions meet quality standards and compliance requirements.

• Conduct acceptance testing and validate the delivered products.

Additional Information:

• The assignment is expected to last 9 to 12 months.

• We are looking for someone who can start quickly and be (almost) immediately up and running.

• Typically, on-site work is required once a week.

Job Requirements

Business Intelligence:

• In-depth knowledge of BI principles and extensive experience in managing BI projects.

• Proficiency in self-service BI environments.

• Expertise in Power BI.

• Background in data analytics solutions.

Azure Synapse Analytics (and Fabric):

• Knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics for data integration, storage, and analysis

• Understanding of Synapse architecture and its deployment for enterprise-wide data solutions would be a big plus

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including integration and collaboration with Synapse would be nice to have

Agile Scrum:

• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

• Ability to lead Scrum events and facilitate the development of user stories.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with (non-)technical stakeholders.

• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to business users.

Experience

• > 5 years of experience as a PO (or similar role)

• Proven experience and knowledge in the field of Financial Economic Crime

Leadership:

• Ability to inspire and motivate the BI team.

• Provide leadership by setting a vision and direction for the team.

Experience as a PO, with Power BI and on FEC are hard requirements. Azure Synapse is a very strong plus.

Only PO IT/BI experience is insufficient. We are looking for candidates with proven FEC (Financial Economic Crime) experience (familiar with things like client monitoring, transaction monitoring)
