Freelance Global Director Procurement (ZZP)

As part of the Procurement Leadership Team (PLT) you will be responsible for all the procurement spend of our Business Groups Europe and Retail & Americas.

Also being part or the extended BG MT’s, your goal is to achieve the best procurement performance based on savings and added value.

You drive business partnering between procurement and the business groups and the respective Supply Chain Clusters and determine and safeguard the priorities through alignment.

You challenge the categories to develop customer-centric actionable sourcing strategies and engage business stakeholders in sourcing strategies. Next to that you nourish a continuous value engineering mindset (Value In Cost Out).

With and through your teams you will continue the journey we are on to increase procurement focus and capabilities on high-value adding activities impacting our P&L.

The topics included but are not limited to enhancing innovation, sustainability, total cost of ownership and strategic partnerships.

Key accountabilities

• Responsible for procurement in the SC teams and BG’s Europe and Retail & Americas overall procurement as member of PLT

• Translate business demand and priorities into procurement actions and translate procurement programs & category strategies back into the business

• Support the business in setting-up the 12Q plan and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with regional business needs and global procurement strategies

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers leading to innovations, sustainability and increased value and ensure alignment with business goals while mitigating risks

• Manage the financial process. Be the budgeting (savings) process owner and deliver on local targets. Ensure translation of commodity price variations into the BG cost prices

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, identify procurement needs and develop procurement strategies that support business objectives

• Identify people and organizational requirements to enable achievement of short to medium term business plan results

• Establish KPI’s to monitor procurement performance, identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize procurement processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Experience and functional skills

• Extensive international procurement leadership experience, ideally gained in the areas of business/regional procurement as well as category procurement, covering direct as well as indirect categories

• Experience with and knowledge of regulations and market specifics across a large variety of European countries, where NL, BE, GER are represented in a dominant way

• Substantial experience in having implemented procurement best practices, innovative methodologies and standards

• Experience as a leader of medium sized, multiple country procurement teams, deploying strategies that are tailored to the specific context, needs, culture and maturity

• Experience in digitization and automation of processes and performance reporting

• Financial understanding on P&L and Working Capital, understanding the impact of own actions and market developments on these, ability to

give a clear financial picture vs budget, risks & opportunities and articulate and execute mitigation plans

• Mastery of business partnering skills to ensure Procurement expertise is successfully placed at the service of Business to maximize value and mitigate risks.

• Well-developed commercial acumen and strong understanding of and ability to challenge business needs and translate them into key sourcing priorities to unlock value
