Freelance AI & Automation Engineer (ZZP)
Job description
We are looking for a hands-on, solution-oriented AI & Automation Engineer to lead the development and deployment of local, on-premise AI tools and automation solutions. This role will be responsible for identifying manual, repetitive tasks across the business and designing intelligent agents—integrated with RPA—to automate and optimize them. Cloud-based tools like ChatGPT are off-limits, so your focus will be on developing, fine-tuning, and deploying locally hosted AI models and scripts.
This is a unique opportunity to drive innovation from the ground up, directly impacting efficiency and scalability within our organization.
Responsibilities:
Design and deploy on-premise AI tools (e.g., local LLMs, OCR, NLP, ML models) tailored to internal use cases.
Develop scripts and intelligent agents that can work in tandem with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) platforms to:
Open and interact with software
Extract and process data
Automate workflows and decision trees
Work closely with ICT, operations, and business units to identify and prioritize automation opportunities.
Maintain, optimize, and ensure data privacy and security compliance of all AI systems.
Stay up to date with open-source AI tools and trends that can be adapted for local deployment.
Provide documentation, testing, and user training for internal tools developed.
Troubleshoot issues and continuously improve performance of automation pipelines.
Must-Have:
Strong experience in Python and AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace Transformers)
Familiarity with local LLMs (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral, GPT4All, OpenAssistant, etc.)
Experience with on-premise model deployment using GPUs or other compute infrastructure
Working knowledge of RPA tools (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate, AutoHotKey, Robot Framework)
Proficiency in data preprocessing, building AI pipelines, and API integrations
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently drive end-to-end solutions
Nice-to-Have:
Experience with OCR, NLP, or document processing tools (e.g., Tesseract, spaCy, LangChain)
Understanding of enterprise IT environments, data access, and security controls
Familiarity with containerization (Docker), local server setup, or Linux environments
